Daniel Englender, ISHP
Managing Director, London
Daniel Englender is the Managing Director of Benjamin West London, handling all international work outside of the United States. Daniel has spent his entire working life in the furniture and interiors industry and both he and Alan Benjamin are third-generation members of families committed to the needs of clients in the field of hospitality furnishings.
Daniel Englender studied Economics at London’s Middlesex University and, upon joining Englender Furniture, created the Hotel & Hospitality division that was to propel the company forward for the next 20 years.
Daniel moved to Milan in 1986 to work with Tecno SpA, Italy’s premier commercial furniture company, in order to gain valuable international experience. Working from showrooms in both London and Milan, Daniel worked for six years in the firm’s Grande Lavori (Major Project) division on a wide range of projects. Here he supervised the design and development of furniture and interiors for The European Bank in Luxembourg, Waterloo International Terminal in London, Barcelona and Stansted Airports as well as work for IBM, Shell, Glaxo and Saatchi & Saatchi. These projects were highly complex, demanding and typically lasted between two and four years.
Returning to Englender Furniture in 1993, Daniel was instrumental in the company’s move away from manufacturing to become a sales and product-led entity. In 2002, he set up Daniel Englender Furniture Projects, acting as supplier and advisor to owners, architects and designers in the hotel and luxury furniture market. Clients have included Arsenal Football Club and Anshutz Entertainment Group, the new owners of London’s Millennium Dome.
Daniel’s role as Managing Director of Benjamin West London commenced in January 2007.
Daniel has extensive worldwide business experience, including numerous hotel projects completed in Japan and the Far East, as well as in the US and across Europe. Daniel Englender lectures on all aspects of business and trade in Japan on behalf of the British Government’s “Action Japan” department and has written numerous design and hospitality articles for a variety of magazines. Daniel also acts as a mentor and business advisor on behalf of The British Design Trust as well as being a founding Advisory Board member of the 100% Design exhibition.
Mr. Englender is a member of the International Society of Hospitality Purchasers (ISHP).
